According to him, Jakarta is still ranked 74th as a global city. Thereby, he targets Jakarta to overtake other cities in Southeast Asia, such as Kuala Lumpur and Manila, and enter the top 50.

"At least we can overtake Kuala Lumpur and Manila, if possible we will be ranked 50th. And I am sure we can," he explained.

To achieve the target, he emphasized the importance of changes in various aspects. Among them are cultural identity, bureaucratic transformation, political support, more transparent public communication, and improving the quality of human resources.

He also highlighted seven main pillars that need to be considered in Jakarta's transformation. That is business and economy, society and workforce, tourism and branding, environment and sustainability, infrastructure and mobility, research and development, and governance, institutions and financing.

In his speech, he also touched on the issue of the high disparity between rich and poor in Jakarta.

"So, one of the things that must also be resolved is the issue of disparity, the difference between rich and poor in Jakarta is still very striking and dominant," he added.

Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Head, Atika Nur Rahmania reported,  the launch of the book "Jakarta Rise#20: Path Towards Top 20 Global City" as a follow-up to the study of Jakarta's planning towards a global city. This book will be a roadmap for Jakarta to reach the ranking of 20 global cities, following the mandate of the 2025-2045 RPJPD.

"This document will be a roadmap for Jakarta's future towards ranking 20th in the Global City in line with what is mandated in the Regional Long-Term Development Plan or 2025-2045 RPJPD," she explained.

The book "Jakarta Rise#20" is the result of collaboration between Bappeda Jakarta and global management consulting firm AT Kearney, and involves various parties from ministries, institutions, BUMD, the business world, academics, and other stakeholders.

This book provides an overview of the current condition of Jakarta, including the strengths, opportunities, and challenges faced. A comprehensive and integrative roadmap is formulated to direct Jakarta's development towards the top 20 global cities by 2045.
